When it comes to Rangeland Insurance,
there’s no one better than Silveus.
That’s because Silveus Insurance Group has been instrumental in getting Rainfall insurance (or Rangeland) developed and expanded. In addition, our highly trained agents have the tools and expertise to protect your operation and give you options for when the weather turns dry.
Rangeland Insurance is subsidized by the USDA’s Risk Management Agency (RMA). It primarily insures against below average rainfall, and covers grazingland and perennial hay production. The Rangeland programs are based on the Rainfall or Vegetative Index, depending on the state or region where the rangelands are located.
Rangeland gives ranchers additional cash flow to buy feed, lease pastureland, and even restock their herds once normal rainfall resumes. Similarly, it provides hay producers the funds needed to offset the cost of irrigation during dry growing seasons.
Silveus Insurance Group developed RangeCalc™ , the industry’s most extensive dry weather, risk-management software. With a single click, we can show historical payments back to 1948 and tell you what coverage intervals give you the best protection and net return.
Important Rangeland Features:
- The program is very affordable because the RMA subsidizes 51-59% of it.
- Rangeland offers a historic buy-up, low-deductible coverage previously unavailable.
- Producers can insure only those acres that are important to their grazing program or hay operation.
- Alfalfa is now insurable as a hay crop.
- In some counties, Rangeland is mandatory when applying for disaster payments from the Farm Service Agency (FSA).
Silveus is a national leader in agricultural insurance and one of the oldest providers of crop insurance. We’ve worked with RMA to help implement insurance plans that have benefited ranchers across the nation.
